Do you work for free?

Fricken writers.... I just can't get away from them. 1-2-3 times a month I get a 3 pager in the email box with some dush trying to pitch some random story at me that he thinks I should work on for "free" cause he thinks his idea is like rainbows and unicorns coming out of his ass... Just so you know... Its insulting. I don't work for free this is my full time job and respect that its the only way I pay my bills... you would not ask your mechanic to work for free with the promise of compensation sometime down the line if the car ever sold? Why are freelancers any different? We have our own dreamed up ideas that we are working on... Why should we take our spare time and work on something you thought up for no compensation. Maybe if I was still in high school and needed to fill out my portfolio... but if your looking for a highschoolers to do your project your really not putting the effort into seeing your project take off. Listen! nobody will take the time to add the detail needed if you don’t respect that they need to be paid for the time they put in. If it’s your baby....your dream project ....that you have been working on for most of the decade...see it all the way through and pay a professional to do quality work. Why settle for anything less...? NOT RIGHT!

and I ask you... would you work on a strangers project for no compensation...when you had rent...food and a new family to worry about... I doubt it?

I work hard at what I do... I have to prioritize my time and make sure I am spending my time wisely to pay the bills......... so no probono offers please. I respect your career, respect mine.
