So in Holland people celebrate Saint Nicholas day on the 5th of December, 3 weeks before a costumed Saint Nicholas arrives on his boat from Spain to put gifts in children's shoes. So I thought in light of that I would share this monthly art challenge with you.
This month's theme is, curtesy of Rorke: Classic Old Saint Nicholas
Deadline: Midnight (GMT) on Tuesday, December 31st.
There is a 5 minute grace period allowing people to get their posts and links sorted. A moderator will then post a list of valid entries after checking links and voting will begin and continue until midnight (GMT) on 7th of the following month. Crits are welcomed during the voting process. Toward the end of the current challenge a new challenge setter will be randomly chosen from those taking part in the WIP thread to set the next monthly challenge, so keep an eye out.
Post your final entries in this thread (comments without entries - or without votes during the voting process - may be deleted).
All other comments and all WIPs (Works In Progress, required for entry) should be posted in the WIP thread.
Two separate wips must be posted in the wip thread and clickable links must be posted in the final thread with the final image. A link is provided below to details of how to do this. You will be disqualified if you do not post WIP links correctly. If you have a problem posting wips or creating links please pm (Voluspa).
All artwork must be the work of the entrant, and both started and completed within the time frame of the challenge. You may only enter 1 entry per challenge, and may only cast 1 set of votes during voting.
Please keep entries and WIPs below 500k and a maximum of 1000 pixels across. Larger files causes problems for all users, especially those on slower connections.
Moderators monitor the voting in these challenges to combat cheating and maintain fairness. We may discount any vote we consider suspicious, and will disregard any attempts at sabotaging the voting, or in any way screwing with these challenges.
If you have not participated in these challenges before (or if it's been a long time) please take the time to review the more in depth explanation of the rules as well as the information on how to post images and click-able links as provided in the Forum FAQ (Help & Support Section).
If you are interested in joining this challenge please go here. ((community.imaginefx.com/forums… the link might be hard to see but its in-between those brackets.
In honor of our brief topic I have decided to do a Santa feature-- a lot of these images are relatively unknown so givem some love and fav/comment if you like their image.
|For every 8000 points I am going to donate time and effort to a painting for one of the following charities below. 80% of the profits from prints sold of that painting will go to the following charities for the remainder of my days on this planet.|
First Charity Painting: Philippine Red Cross
Support to victims of super typhoon Yolanda. After they are back on their feet the 80% will go to the Red Cross for various other disasters around the world which I am sure will occur down the road.
Second Charity Painting: "Because I am a Girl"
Girls can change the world, but they can't do it without you. A donation to "Because I am a Girl" gives you the multiplier effect because when girls are educated, healthy and informed, they lift themselves, their families and communities out of poverty.
Third Charity Painting: WWF Save The Tiger
(worldwildlife.org) All my life I have wanted to really contribute more to this particular cause. Tigers have always been a passion of mine and I would like to come up with something that could really help.
Why 8000 points? That will allow me to upkeep this DA account and also instead of spending the money on a premium account I can spend that money on ad space to gain more traffic to the paintings I will be doing. You don't have to donate here you can go straight to the links I have shown above and donate directly to these charities. Which I encourage you to do. I usually am swamped chasing work and I don't have the time or money to contribute to these causes but maybe if we could come together we could get-er done. Plus this way you guys help keep me doing charity work. So if you have points to spare please help and be a part of the process. Synergy baby!
